The GE449 Series self-diagnostic, four-wire smoke detectors continually monitor their own sensitivity and operational status, and provide a visual trouble indication if they drift out of sensitivity range or fail internal diagnostics. This unique, patented technology meets NFPA 72 field sensitivity testing requirements without the need for external meters. Additional diagnostic information is activated by applying a magnet near the detector's integral reed switch. This initiates a self-diagnostic routine and provides visual indication of sensitivity level, or if service is required. This series is easily cleaned by simply replacing GE Security's proprietary field-replaceable optical chamber. All models are designed to reduce false alarms from dust, insects, RFI, and external light.
INCREASE YOUR SAFETY & SECURITY
Most homes have battery operated ionization smoke detectors. These detectors react quickly to flaming fires but usually take longer to detect smoldering fire û the most common type of fire that occurs in homes. GE Interlogix ESL smoke detectors utilize photoelectric smoke detection technology. Photoelectric smoke detectors continually analyze the air for smoke particles and are more sensitive to smoldering fires than ionization detectors. Installing both ionization and photoelectric smoke detectors in your home provides the best possible protection for you and your family. You can count on GE to protect your family and investment. Photoelectric alarms are essential in your applications.
